Yuri Darius is a Surinamese American artist born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Surrounded by art from an early age, she enrolled at the High School of Art and Design, where she explored painting and film photography. She went on to earn an MFA in Art Direction from Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She has since spent more than a decade as an art director in luxury fashion and beauty.

That discipline shows in her photography: precise composition and nothing in the frame without purpose. Working close and led by the light, Yuri creates images that carry SOUL, an inner emotion expressed through fine art.

Her book, Serene Landscapes, was released in 2026. Her current body of work, Sapphic: Love Letter to Women, photographs women across race, size, and circumstance, feminine and masculine alike. Spanning several ongoing series, it explores intimacy, desire, and vulnerability through the female gaze. With each image, Yuri Darius invites us to pause, look more closely, and see women the way she sees them.
