still life

A still life is flowers and objects, arranged and held still. I arrange mine around a woman.

The flowers are placed. Along a spine, in the fold of a hip, at the throat, in an open hand. The placing is deliberate and it is half the picture.

A flower is the most explicit thing a plant has. Laid against a woman, it echoes her. Same curve, same softness under pressure, same way of opening on its own schedule and for its own reasons.

Every flower here was cut to be here.
